Christ-Centered Curriculum is a truly unique early childhood program which is saturated with Scripture that He promises will never return to Him void (Is. 55:11)
By His grace, we can recapture God’s original plan in which Christ is the center, the focal point of the teacher, the methods, and the curriculum. From birth, we can begin to actively, constantly, and purposefully teach our children the love, discipline, and understanding of God’s Word. Then, whenever fundamental skills (phonics, reading, math, history, science, etc.) are being taught, as much as is possible, we can purpose to use materials that train a child’s heart and mind to view all things from God’s perspective. And, because what a child thinks upon he will become (Prov. 23:7), we can purpose to make every activity in a child’s day be consistent with the Philippians 4:8 principle.
Using the Christ-Centered Phonics, Reading, and Math programs will help train you in the art of teaching subjects from their rudiments and principles in Scripture. High academic results are a byproduct of teaching to children’s spirits first, and then trusting God to open their intellects according to His perfect timing (Ps. 94:10; Prov. 9:10).

An Example with 5-Year Olds
This age group is impressive, to say the least! During this time, the last of their peak formative years, potential for spiritual, moral and academic growth is astounding. Achieving a second to third grade level in phonics, reading and math is therefore not uncommon.
After learning simple phonics/spelling basics, five’s learn how to add suffixes s, es, ed, and ing plus the phonics/spelling rules for vowel digraphs, modified vowels, and diphthongs. In addition, they study syllabication and accent rules for reading multi-syllable words. They drill the variant (not fitting normal patterns) vowel sounds, variant consonant sounds, plus silent consonants. Students at this age can easily apply their growing knowledge of nouns, verbs and adjectives to identifying the “who,” “doing” and “what” of sentences (subject/predicate). Writing short stories is enjoyed as well.
It is also common for a five-year-old to be able to locate any passage in Scripture quickly and read it with proficiency. But don’t just take my word for it. Listen to what Dr. Jay Grimstead, Director of Coalition on Revival (C.O.R.), has to say:

The RBCS Kindergarten’s Academic Excellence
As measured by the l970 California Achievement Test (CAT) designed for first graders, K5 classes with one year’s education have traditionally averaged a median Grade Equivalent (G.E.) score of 2.25 with a median Percentile of 86.4. K5’s having had two years’ education have averaged a 3.02 median G.E. and a median Percentile of 98.8.
Kindergarten graduates consistently maintained above grade level performance. For example, by the end of fourth grade one group scored a median G.E. of 7.4, with 5.6 the lowest and l0.6 the highest scores. Another group, at the end of fifth grade scored a median G.E. of 8.5, with the lowest score being 6.3 and the highest ll.2. A third group by the end of sixth grade scored a median G.E. of 9.9. Two original kindergartners graduated from RBCS in l987. By ninth grade, both maxed the CAT with a l3.6 G.E. and Percentiles of 97 and 92.
RBCS Superintendent Bob Grete has found that former kindergartners hold the highest degree of thinking skills and have therefore been his best students in the upper grades. Katherine Grete, RBCS elementary grades supervisor and director of Talent Development (a program designed for learning disabled students) has also reported that kindergarten graduates are by far more competent, both academically and in character, than those joining such students at higher grade levels.
Such results are the outcome of a deep sense of stewardship: “Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful” (1 Cor 4:2). In both home and Christian school, every moment should be taken captive for Christ (2 Cor 10:3-5). For each of us will one day give an account of how we have handled that stewardship responsibility (Rom 14:12).
